Dave, for a crabbing rookie, could you describe the kind of places that crabs can be found. I fish west of Craig, AK, and would love to add a crab to the menu! MLH

Over the years I have had ample opportunity to crab and I have found that different baits work better at different times of the year. But the one bait which works best at all times of the year is a dead octopus. It seems, in Mother Natures scheme of things, pay backs are demonstratively real. Crab is an octopuses favorite food and crab are very aware of this. When the crab smell a dead octopus they will travel extraordinary distances to get a bit of pay back. If you can't find an octopus, however, any real oily fish will do.
